About Me

Education and Licensure

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Colorado (LPC.0015430) and Oklahoma (LPC.11292). I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Arizona State University. I completed an internship working with adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of mental health issues like Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Trauma, Interpersonal conflict, and Grief.

Experience

I have been working with children, adolescents, families, and adults in Colorado since 2017. My professional experience as a therapist started in working with a non-profit organization providing therapy services for children, teens, and adults in the outpatient setting.

I then had the opportunity to work with adolescents struggling with eating disorders and their families in a hospital setting starting in 2019. While doing that work I received training in both Family Based Treatment (FBT) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). I really enjoyed working with the patients and supporting them in learning the skills and tools to interrupt ED behaviors and beginning to uncover their self-worth outside their body. I also enjoyed working with the caregivers and empowering them in supporting their child through recovery, which can be such an emotionally draining and terrifying process.

I decided to start my own practice so I could combine my passions for working with adolescents struggling with eating disorders and their families, and working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem/self-worth, interpersonal conflict, relationship issues, or life transitions.

My Approach

I implement a client-centered, individualized therapy approach. Every client is unique, has their own story, and their own goals of what they want to address in their therapeutic work. I believe it is important to work collaboratively to make sure clients are getting the most out of their therapy. I utilize evidenced-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

In supporting adolescents with eating disorders, I utilized Family Based Treatment while also drawing on skills and interventions from Emotion Focused Family Therapy. Parents and caregivers are the agents of change in supporting their child in recovery, and their involvement is essential and important. I aim to support parents and caregivers in regaining their confidence in being able to parent and support their child through recovery. Working with the adolescents individually, I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy skills while also addressing body image concerns. I incorporate work around increasing self-compassion, self-worth, and self-empowerment.
